Light boxes at Guangzhou Baiyun international airport ran at full brightness around the clock. Strong daylight washed out ads during the day, while the same brightness felt harsh late at night — all while consuming excessive energy.
Thousands of light boxes now adjust automatically to ambient light and passenger flow. Brightness compensates for daylight at dawn and dusk to keep ads vivid, then dims smoothly overnight to save energy — supporting the airport's sustainability goals without compromising visual impact.
Static, always-on gallery lighting exposed artwork to unnecessary continuous light and gave visitors little sense of discovery. The space needed lighting that could wake gently as visitors approached.
Frames now hold a faint glow when empty. As a visitor approaches, ambient light rises first, then accent spotlights ease on with a smooth logarithmic fade — comfortable for the eye and dramatic for the moment. Light becomes a second brushstroke, turning every visit into a quiet, deliberate reveal.
Glass-domed atriums let in daylight, but fixed indoor lighting either wasted energy and caused glare on sunny days, or left the space feeling dim and uninviting on cloudy days and at night.
The lighting now reads the sky. At midday, it dims to just 10% for subtle accenting and maximum savings. As clouds roll in or evening falls, brightness rises smoothly and imperceptibly to compensate — keeping the atrium consistently bright, premium and inviting, whatever the weather.
Dim, static garage lighting felt unsafe, especially for drivers parking alone. Running lights at full brightness around the clock was costly, and basic motion sensors caused jarring, low-end flicker.
The garage now holds a calm 10% glow when empty. As a car enters, lighting unfolds ahead of it like a red carpet, easing on with a smooth curve to guide the way. The moment a driver parks and opens their door, light above that exact spot brightens instantly — turning a once-cold space into a safer, more welcoming arrival experience.
Traditional home lighting offered only on/off or basic dimming — unable to adapt to everyday moments like a harsh light at night, screen glare while watching a movie, or different needs throughout the day.
Lighting now follows the home's daily rhythm. In the morning, warm white light eases residents awake. At night, radar detects movement and floor-level strips glow at just 1% in warm 2200K light — gentle enough to never disturb sleep, fading once the room is empty again. During movie nights, the main lights dim away as background strips softly mirror the colors on screen, dissolving the edges of the room.
