Different IP ratings are achieved through different manufacturing technologies. From basic surface protection to fully sealed silicone structures, each process is designed to match specific environmental requirements and application scenarios.
A layer of silicone gel is applied to the surface of the LED strip and cured into a protective film. It covers the exposed parts while keeping the strip flexible and bright. This provides basic protection against dust, moisture and light splashes.
A thin layer of silicone is sprayed evenly over the LED strip to form a waterproof barrier. It adds almost no thickness, yet protects the strip from moisture, condensation and rain. The light, even coating keeps the strip's original look.
The LED strip and silicone are extruded together through a mold, forming a hollow silicone tube around the strip. This tube fully surrounds the strip, giving it strong protection from moisture and outdoor conditions while staying flexible.
A U-shaped silicone sleeve covers the back and sides of the strip. Liquid silicone is then poured in to fill the remaining space and seal it. Once cured, the strip is fully enclosed, giving it strong protection against water.
The LED strip and silicone are extruded together into one solid piece with no empty space inside. The strip is fully sealed within the silicone, giving it the highest level of protection for harsh conditions.
